  • Weekend Weather: Highs in the upper 90’s. Partly cloudy all weekend.

  • Read Time: 6 minutes

Jazz’SAlive

When: Friday, Sept. 25 (4:00–11:00 PM) Saturday, Sept. 26 (11:00 AM–11:00 PM)

Where: Civic Park at Hemisfair (210 S. Alamo St)

The Vibe: Free live jazz, food vendors, family activities, and two days of music under the downtown skyline, featuring artists including Delfeayo Marsalis and Arturo Sandoval.

Parking: Downtown parking will be limited. The Hemisfair Garage (623 Hemisfair Blvd) is the closest major garage, with 238 spaces. Hemisfair also has the S. Alamo St. and Martinez St. lots nearby.

Oktoberfest at La Villita

When: Friday, Sept. 25 (3:00–10:00 PM) Saturday, Sept. 26 (11:00 AM–10:00 PM) Sunday, Sept. 27 (12:00–7:00 PM)

Where: Maverick Plaza at La Villita Historic Arts Village (418 Villita St)

The Vibe: A free, family-friendly celebration of San Antonio’s German, Alsatian, Czech and Polish heritage with live music, dancing, German food, a biergarten, vendors, stein-hoisting and plenty of Oktoberfest energy.

Parking: There is no onsite parking at La Villita. Nearby options include LAZ Parking - 146 Navarro Garage at 146 Navarro St. and other downtown garages/lots. La Villita recommends using downtown parking options and walking over via the River Walk.

The Weekend Lineup

Pretty Girl Market- Plus Size Day

When: Saturday, Sept. 26 (6:00–10:00 PM)

Where: Alamo Beer Co. (202 Lamar St)

The Vibe: A night market packed with 30+ vendors selling plus-size vintage, Y2K fashion, Coach bags, jewelry, art, baked goods, trinkets and more. It’s free, outdoors, dog-friendly, and perfect for finding something you definitely didn’t plan on buying.

Parking: Free parking is available at Alamo Beer Co. Bonus: The first 25 people in line get a goodie bag.

The Cottage Irish Pub

When: Monday–Saturday, 3:00–6:00 PM

Where: The Cottage Pub (3810 Broadway)

The Vibe: Cozy neighborhood Irish pub with Guinness on tap, a patio, live music, and a game room with pool and darts. Happy hour brings $6 cocktails and wine, 20% off draft and bottled beer, and select half-price appetizers.

Why Go: Grab an Old Fashioned, a Blackberry Bramble, and some half-price apps, then stick around for the live Irish music on the weekends. It's the kind of place where “just one drink” has historically been a very unreliable promise.

Fall Family Fishing Day

When: Saturday, Sept. 26 (9:00 AM–12:00 PM)

Where: Joske Pavilion & surrounding riverbank at Brackenridge Park (3700 N. St. Mary’s St.)

The Vibe: A low-key morning of fishing, family time, and a little friendly competition. Texas Parks & Wildlife will stock the San Antonio River with more than 600 fish the day before, and kids can learn casting, reeling, tackle, and fishing basics from the Fin Addict Angler Foundation.

Good to Know: Free! Kids 16 and under can compete for prizes for the first and largest fish caught, and no fishing license is required during the event. You can bring your own rod and bait, or borrow a rod, reel, and bait for a $10 contribution. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Change Yourself, Change the World Festival

When: Friday, Sept. 25 (4:00–10:00 PM)

Where: Joske Pavilion at Brackenridge Park (531 Brackenridge Way)

The Vibe: A free evening community wellness festival presented with Breathe & Rise Collective. Slow down and reset with an Ultimate Sound Bath, yoga, breathwork, ecstatic dance, and live music from StoneTribe, alongside a holistic vendor carnival and community market.

Parking: Free parking is available throughout Brackenridge Park along Brackenridge Way and adjacent public surface lots near the pavilion.

The Morning Flow & Roll at Brackenridge Park

The Mission: Trade the slow Sunday morning scroll for a dose of open-air movement under the trees at Brackenridge Park. Grab a water bottle, throw on your favorite comfortable athletic gear, and head to the historic Joske Pavilion to unlock your inner martial artist. Whether you’re leaning into slow, deliberate breathwork or ready to learn hands-on grappling defense, your objective is simple: move your body in the cool morning air before the Texas afternoon heat rolls in.

The Reward: A balanced dose of zen and adrenaline that resets your mental battery for the week ahead. You get the gentle breeze off the river, the shaded canopy of century-old oaks, and an welcoming, ego-free community session where all experience levels are celebrated. Plus, you’re perfectly situated right next to the Pearl or Broadway for a well-deserved post-workout iced latte.

The Offerings:

  • Joske Pavilion (Brackenridge Park):

    • 8:00 AM — Tai Chi: Ground yourself early with slow, fluid martial movement and breath regulation designed to clear mental clutter and awaken stiff joints.

    • 9:30 AM — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Ramp up the energy with a beginner-friendly, dynamic session focusing on leverage, flow, and functional self-defense techniques.

    • Side Quest Intel: Hosted by Mind Body Empowered on a sliding scale / pay-what-you-can basis ($10 community, $20 sustain, $30–$40 pay-it-forward). All experience levels are welcome, so zero prior martial arts experience is needed!

See you out there!
